Every so often, I get the wonderful opportunity to be part of an event that empowers women to live their best life.
On Friday, 15 March, I had the honour of hosting and speaking at the official launch of the Microsoft Elevate event.

Elevate is a league of extraordinary women, who have created a meaningful and exciting forum to share, inspire and encourage each other to forge ahead and reach the summit.
Elevate is the brainchild of Microsoft SA’s Celeste Le Grange who launched the initiative last year to create an environment where women felt comfortable to open up and share their experiences while helping each other rise up.
Speakers included Adele Oosthuizen, founder of Silver Leaf Company, who assists people in empowering and challenging themselves to set bigger goals in order to achieve success in their business and personal lives.
Using an inspiring personal visualisation of a tree and its branches, Dr Hema Kalan inspired us to put health first. She believes that perfect health comes from a balance of your physical, mental and emotional self. Dr Kalan is someone you would see on your journey to stay health and not only when you’re sick.
Digital expert, Ryan Macquet got us thinking when he presented key insights on how to prepare for Industry 4.0.
Lize Brand represented the Nataniel Progress Project and spoke about the partnership with Child Welfare to develop a training manual for early childhood development practitioners and parents to understand abuse in all forms and how to prevent it.
“Find me a comfort zone and then leave it” – Kass Naidoo, 1st ever Cricket women commentator quoted As women, we need to touch the depth of our pain in order to find the summit! #ElevateWomen pic.twitter.com/PpjmtWeoJl

I shared #SixOfTheBest life tips which have worked well for me throughout my career:
- Find your passion
- Work Hard
- Smash It
- Fail Forward
- Bounce Back
- Live in the Moment
The most powerful moment of the event came when six attendees courageously stood up and shared their personal stories. There were tears, gasps, laughter and lots of applause as the attendees acknowledged their bravery, and learnt from their powerful life stories.
Ultimately, the biggest applause came at the end when Elevate founder, Celeste Le Grange, took to the stage. And she received a standing ovation!
Thank you, Celeste! May Elevate continue to rise and inspire many more women to live their best lives.
