It was an honour to host Game On live from the KZN Sport Awards on Friday, 15 September.
My guests included Sports Personality of the Year nominee, Paralympic bronze medallist Tyrone Pillay and rising cycling star, Manqoba Madida, nominated for Junior Sportsman of the Year.
Head of Department at KZN Sport, Rohini Naidoo, set the scene with an interview around how KZN has gone on to produce such superstars in sport.
Mike Mthembu closed the show as he spoke to me about the power of recreation and how KZN was tapping into the enthusiasm from people of all ages.
I also enjoyed meeting up with 2017 Comrades Marathon winner, Bongmusa Mthembu, who told me his son was accepted at a top boarding school and was leaving the nest soon.
Also caught on camera before they walked away with the top trophies at the glamorous event were Sportswoman of the Year Bongi Msomi, Recreation Body of the Year Dare to Dream, Team of the Year Uthongathi FC and Volunteer of the Year Grant Martin Oosthuyzen.
Always great rubbing shoulders with the cream of SA sport!
